Postpartum depression (PPD) is one of the forms of depression experienced by mothers after the delivery of a child that can trigger a variety of emotions, from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety. While there are no official statistics, health officials say about 10 to 15 per cent of the childbearing women in the country are likely to experience depression after childbirth. Most women who experience these symptoms tend to think that PPD is an abnormal disease but health experts say it is like any other disease.
