His Majesty The King granted Dhar to the newly elected members of the National Council at the Tashichhodzong today.



His Majesty also conferred Dakyen to the new Chairperson of the National Council, Sangay Dorji, who is the National Council Member from Chukha. The National Council elections were held in April this year.

Hydropower export revenue dropped by over Nu 1.5bn in the first four months of the year compared to the same period last year. According to the Royal Monetary Authority’s monthly statistical bulletin for May, Bhutan exported over two billion ngultrum’s worth of electricity from January to April last year, while the number dropped to about Nu 400 M this year. The Druk Green Power Corporation attributes the drop in revenue to the country receiving less snowfall and decreased river flow.

A forest fire in Benshingmo village in Trashigang’s Udzorong Gewog damaged almost 300 acres of chirpine forest. The fire started yesterday at around 10 pm.

The cause of forest fire has not been ascertained.



More than 50 people including forestry officials, DeSuups, police and residents are involved in containing the fire. However, they are struggling to contain the fire due to strong wind and rugged terrain.

Although the Dungchen Menchu in Dagana is known for its multiple healing power, the stone bath spring, which is believed to have an association with Guru Rinpoche, is not able to attract visitors. This is despite the district administration constructing an access road to the spring, last year. The problem is that the bathtubs the district administration installed a few years ago can barely be used now.

Farmers in four chiwogs of Pemathang Gewog in Samdrup Jongkhar can finally bid farewell to their water woes as the Omshari Landmark Irrigation Channel has been completed. It was inaugurated on Sunday. The irrigation channel is one of the largest in the country which will ensure that over 1,000 acres of agricultural land will receive a reliable water supply.

The cultivation of oyster mushroom is gaining momentum in Pema Gatshel. Two farmers in Shumar Gewog embarked on a successful trial of oyster mushroom cultivation this year, prompting them to plan for farm expansion. Currently, there are three farmers and a group engaged in oyster mushroom cultivation in the district.



𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗭𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴



A group of eight determined women completed a month-long baking training programme and are now making waves in Tingtibi Town in Zhemgang. Thanks to their newfound baking skills, these talented women have successfully started selling cakes and are earning a decent income. Their journey began last year when they participated in a bakery and confectionery training course organised by the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship.



In the final qualifying match of the Pepsi Bhutan Premier League qualifiers, Tensung FC in green defeated Phuntsholing City FC 4-nil today.



With today’s win, Tensung FC on 16 points climbed to the second position, trailing table-toppers Namlha FC by only one point. Joining them in the top four are BFF Academy and Thimphu Raven FC. The four teams will now play in the BoB Bhutan Premier League which will begin next month.
