1. Drukair Helicopter Crash Investigation Report Released

The final crash investigation report on the Drukair Helicopter crash in Lunana, which occurred in March of the previous year, suggests that the crash could have been caused by terrain impact due to the pilot attempting an abrupt change of flight maneuver in a low approach. The pilot's history of aggressive maneuvers at a low approach and non-compliance with the company's flight roster were highlighted in the report.



2. Conclusion of Tsenkhar Damar Drubchen in Lhuentse

His Holiness the Je Khenpo administered the closing ceremony of the Tsenkhar Damar Drubchen at Autsho Namdroling Goenzin Dratshang in Lhuentse. Over 200 monks participated in the week-long Drubchen, an annual ritual held in the 12th month of the Bhutanese Lunar Calendar.



3. Autsho Satellite Town Development Delays in Lhuentse

Lhuentse's Autsho satellite town development has seen no progress even after eight years of waiting. More than 30 shopkeepers are awaiting plot allotments to build houses in the proposed town area, expressing concerns about the lack of visible development in the near future.

The Bhutan Construction and Transport Authority have revoked 1,603 driving licences issued in Phuentshogling. This action, taken in October last year, marks the first instance of such a large-scale licence revocation, citing procedural lapses and non-compliance in the issuance process from 2016 to August 2023.

The Indian community in Bhutan celebrated India's 75th Republic Day at the Indian Embassy in Thimphu. The ceremony included the unfurling of the Indian national flag, the reading of the Indian President's Republic Day address, and expressions of commitment to further Bhutan-India friendship.

The Zhemgang District Court sentenced a 25-year-old man to two years and six months in prison for attempting to rape a 55-year-old woman. The incident occurred in December of the previous year, and the court stated that the convict had attempted to rape her in the past as well.

The Thimphu city bus parking premise is facing challenges with unmanaged waste, attributed to people's littering habits and a lack of cooperation in waste management. Thromde plans to address the issue by installing CCTVs in the area.

Bhutan's horticulture sector has faced challenges leading to a significant decline in fruit yields, particularly in oranges and apples, over the past decade. The production decline is attributed to diseases and pests, affecting key cash crops in the country.



10. Overcoming Challenges for Ecotourism in Zhemgang

Despite Zhemgang's rich culture and biodiversity, challenges in accessibility and infrastructure have hindered its full potential in community-based ecotourism. The draft 13th Plan interventions aim to overcome these obstacles, positioning Zhemgang as Bhutan's ecotourism capital.
