1. Swearing-In Ceremony and Dakyen Conferment for Government Official

Following the Druk Gyalpo's Dakyen conferment, the Prime Minister, the Speaker, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, and Cabinet Ministers took the Oath or Affirmation of Secrecy. The oath, administered by the Chief Justice, is a constitutional requirement for assuming office.



2. Formation of Nine Ministries in the New Government

The newly formed government will consist of nine ministries, with four ministers from the west, two from the south and central each, and one from the east to lead these ministries.

Accessing information from government agencies and constitutional bodies remains a challenge in the country. Media houses report difficulties in obtaining even basic data, with restrictions on information flow, making transparency a significant concern.



4. Bhutan's Senior Cricket Team in ACC Challenger Cup

Bhutan's senior men’s cricket team is set to participate in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Challenger Cup in Thailand. The team prepared for the tournament with nine practice matches against local clubs in Assam, India.



5. Dakyen Conferment Ceremony by His Majesty The King

His Majesty The King conferred Dakyen to the new Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and Cabinet Ministers in a ceremony held at the Golden Throne Room of the Tashichhodzong. The ceremony was attended by the Advisors of the Interim Government.



6. Specially Designed Portable Toilets for Individuals with Disabilities

The Tsendagang Gewog Administration in Dagana provided 25 individuals with disabilities in the community with specially designed portable toilets. These toilets enhance accessibility and independence for individuals with disabilities.



7. Arrest for Assault Livestreamed on TikTok

The Police in Thimphu arrested a man for physically assaulting his eight-year-old stepdaughter while livestreaming the incident on TikTok. The man was under the influence of alcohol, and around 200 viewers witnessed the incident. The child is receiving counselling, and the man faces charges under the Child Care and Protection Act.



8. Conclusion of Winter Youth Resilience and Leadership Development Programme

The two-week Winter Youth Resilience and Leadership Development Programme, held in four centres, concluded. Aimed at building resilience and leadership skills, the program involved 320 students from classes seven to twelve.



9. Advocacy for Media Literacy Education

As reliance on social media for information grows, civil society organizations and private companies are advocating for joint efforts to teach media literacy. The lack of media literacy education in schools and colleges raises concerns amidst rising cases of misinformation.



10. Tennis Coaching Programme in Tsirang

The Bhutan Tennis Federation is organizing a weeklong tennis coaching programme for students in Tsirang. Aimed at generating interest among students, especially in remote areas, the programme aligns with the ongoing Australian Open tennis championship.
